Alien Tech Lab
Alien Tech Lab is a sub-biome within The Shimmering Frontier. It's full of very advanced caveling technology.
Alien tech labs are small dungeons that generate rarely in the Shimmering Frontier, and in the 'pockets' of Shimmering Frontier sub-biomes that can be found at the far edges of the outer biomes.
Some tech labs contain a Challenge Arena (or Battle Arena,) a circular room with a terminal with a glowing hand in the middle, Electrical Wire circuits, and Materializers. The number of Materializers will vary with each Arena, some being easier (with fewer Materializers) than others.
Interacting with the terminal will begin the Challenge. The doors will shut, the Materializers will begin to spawn waves of enemies, and the terminal will turn into a circular timer with a larger green circle around it. The central circle is a timer that slowly fills as long as the player stays within the bounds of the outer, larger circle. The large circle and timer will turn red if/when the player steps outside of it, and the timer will stop filling. Remaining outside of the boundary circle for too long will cause the timer to regress.
When the player successfully survives and the timer fills completely, the Materializers will deactivate, remaining enemies will be automatically killed, and a chest will spawn on the terminal.
